For Nationale Nederlanden, Powerplant developed a future-focused hospitality concept for the Event space. This space is part of the award-winning workplace environment in the Haagse Poort in The Hague. The Event space is designed to showcase NN’s ambitions and to host events in-house. Its food and beverage offering embraces and reflects the food transition. To meet these ambitions, a 100% plant-based menu was developed in collaboration with Join Program.
Catering without impact on the planet. A food concept with the smallest foodprint in corporate catering in the Netherlands. The principles? 100% plant-based, 80% locally sourced (from the Netherlands), no food waste, no disposables, no single-use plastic, compostable packaging, zero emissions.
The assortment consists of eight familiar and recognizable street food/finger food icons. Each icon offers its own unique experience and moment of consumption. They are convenient, festive, and easy to eat while standing. The fillings and ingredients are surprising, healthy, and change with the seasons—updated monthly or quarterly. While the menu offers limited choices, there is a wide variety in size and presentation, making it suitable for all types of events.
In close collaboration with the NN project team, architect Fokkema & Partners, and branding agency Silo, a concept was delivered that sparks conversation and inspires. Every detail and working method has been carefully considered, with existing approaches challenged. This has led to, among other things, an innovative way of preparing and serving food that reduces waste and saves time.
